Beasley: Get Me Out Of Ibrox!

U.S. international DaMarcus Beasley has appealed for a one-way ticket out of Ibrox during the upcoming January transfer window, telling the Glasgow Evening Times that his lack of playing time with Rangers FC in recent months is severely hampering his chances of making the USMNT squad for the 2010 World Cup.

"It has been frustrating," admitted Beasley. "I'm looking to move away from Rangers. It's not that I'm not happy with the club, it's just that I want to play. I'm only 27 and I feel like I have another six, seven or eight years left.

"My options are open. It might be a move back to Holland or maybe Spain. But it needs to be the right situation, where I get a chance to play and stake my claim to US coach Bob Bradley about getting back on the national team and playing at the World Cup next summer."

Once considered a bright spot in the Americans' future, Beasley has fallen completely out of the squad following a string of poor performances in the past 12 months. Head coach Bob Bradley even tried moving the winger into the left-back position temporarily in hopes of keeping him involved, but the experiment was met with less-than-stellar results. His last appearance came in June at the Confederations Cup when he played the first half of a 3-0 loss against Brazil.

On the club side of things, Beasley has made just two appearances in league play for Rangers in the 2009/10 Scottish Premier League season. He recorded an assist in his most recent appearance, getting 29 minutes of action on December 5th as the team walked over Falkirk by a score of 3-1. His lone start in all competitions this season came back on October 27th in the CIS Insurance Cup against Dundee, where he played 74 minutes without registering a shot or suffering a single foul.

What do you think? Is now the right time for DaMarcus to return to the United States? Would you want your team to take a chance on him? Think he has any chance to make the 2010 World Cup squad at this point?

As a Rangers fan I was happy when we signed Beasley but I am sorry to say that he is too lightweight for Scottish football which has a plethora of full backs who would rather kick him in the air than play the ball.
He needs to go to a league that will give him protection rather than the SPL where he will only get hurt.

If he's not going to play then we'll need to get rid of him. We can't afford to have players on £14,000 per week sitting on the bench. Better suited to La Liga or Serie A.

I don't mean to be spreading a rumor but I've heard it from many different sources that Beasley has an attitude problem. If true this again limits his options. I don't believe that anyone in the MLS will take a chance with him at the salary that he will want futher limiting his chances of making the USMNT for this upcoming world cup. In my view he has very few options on what leagues he can get playing time.
