Final Six MLS All-Stars Named By Kinnear

Dominic Kinnear named his five selections to the MLS All-Star Team this afternoon, adding a sixth pick as a replacement for Columbus Crew midfielder and reigning MVP Guillermo Barros Schelotto, who will not take part in the game after suffering a hamstring injury.

Not surprisingly, the Houston Dynamo head coach named three members of his own squad to the team: forward Brian Ching, midfielder Brad Davis and goalkeeper Pat Onstad. It's hard to argue with the inclusion of the last two, with Davis tied for the league lead in assists (7) and Onstad leading all goalkeepers in wins (9), shutouts (8), and GAA (0.72).

The other three additions to the roster were Seattle Sounders FC's Jhon Kennedy Hurtado (defender) and Fredy Montero (forward), and Kansas City Wizards midfielder Davy Arnaud, all of whom were deserving of the honor, in my opinion.
Montero and Hurtado (both above) highlight the final All-Star additions.

If I had to make one change to Kinnear's selections, I would have opted to include Colorado Rapids forward Omar Cummings (6 goals, 6 assists in 15 games) in place of Ching (5 goals, 1 assist in 10 games). Osvaldo Alonso's play has also been eye-opening this season, but the defensive midfielder was overlooked in place of players who feature more prominently in the attack.

The MLS All-Stars will take on Everton FC on Wednesday, July 29th, at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. At last check, tickets for the game were still available.

How do you feel about Kinnear's selections? Think anyone was overlooked? Or are you like me - just happy that a certain Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder didn't somehow end up included in the festivities?
