Beckham Hits Back: Donovan 'Unprofessional'

In his first public appearance since returning to the United States, David Beckham hit back at LA Galaxy teammate Landon Donovan, calling the US star ‘unprofessional’ for critical comments he made in an upcoming book. In town with French superstar Zinedine Zidane to kick off the Footprint Fields Community Program, the English midfielder finally opened up when asked about the controversy created by Grant Wahl’s ‘The Beckham Experiment,’ excerpts of which were released last week.

“It’s unprofessional in my eyes,” said Beckham of Donovan’s comments. “In every soccer player’s eyes throughout the world it would be unprofessional to speak out about a teammate, especially in the press and not to your face.

“But I’m going to turn it on a positive spin because that’s what this needs,” he continued. “But in 17 years, I have played with the biggest teams in the world and the biggest players and not once have I been criticized for my professionalism. It’s important to get this cleared up and I will be speaking to Landon either this evening or over the next couple of days.”

"I'm personally very professional when I am on the field,” Beckham continued. “I don't care what people say about me off the field, once I'm on the field I'm professional and if there is a chance for him to score, I will be giving him the ball. Me and Landon will talk, but that will be a private conversation."

Beckham is the most self-centered, arrogant, pompus cunt I've ever been privy to in my entire life.

i was a fan of bringing beckham here. when it happened, all of the sudden EVERYONE was talking about soccer... which is good, imo. however, last season was a joke. anyone who watched any LA matches could tell. the whole Milan thing was patronizing. i don't think Becks realized that American soccer fans are as saavy as most Europeans, we can see through the BS.

his captain called him out. rightfully so too. nobody else was doing it and the dude was geting paid how many millions to just mail it in? then goes to Italy and plays his heart out.

becks has disrespected my league and can't take criticism (even if it wasn't communicated properly)when it is justified. suck a di--, laddy. i hope bruce has the balls to sit him on the bench if he pulls the same crap he did last season.

You have to wonder if Beckham has even the tiniest iota of self-awareness on this, or any recognition of how much his handlers impede his ability to act with professionalism.

Sorry, Becks. This recovering Galaxy fan has to side 100% with Landon on this one, and I'm glad he called you out.

"It would be unprofessional to speak out about a teammate, especially in the press and not to your face," he said to the press with Donovan not present.

Anyone else see the irony in this?

Notice that he never denied that he mailed it in? That says loads about this d-bag. Just parroting what his handlers have told him to say.
