MLS Daily Player Of The Week: Cam Weaver

Houston Dynamo forward Cam Weaver has been selected as the MLS Daily Player of the Week for his two-goal, one-assist performance in Houston's pair of victories in Week 14. It was Weaver's first action as a member of the Dynamo, having been traded away from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for Chris Wondolowski on Tuesday of last week.

The 6'4" striker made himself feel welcome quickly. Celebrating his 26th birthday on Wednesday, Weaver assisted on Stuart Holden's game-winning goal just before halftime in their 1-0 victory over Chivas USA in their battle for Western Conference supremacy. Holden's fourth of the season was made possible when Weaver flicked a goal kick from Pat Onstad directly into the path of the midfielder, who made a well-timed run through the Chivas defense and around goalkeeper Zach Thornton to slot the ball into the empty net.

Weaver outdid himself in Saturday's 3-1 victory over rivals FC Dallas, scoring Houston's first and third goals in the win. In the 13th minute, Brian Mullan sent in a cross from the right side that Weaver was able to get enough of a touch on the ball to beat FCD 'keeper Ray Burse. Just after the hour-mark, Weaver struck again to run the score to 3-0. Dominic Oduro chased down a long ball over the top and laid it off to Corey Ashe in the box, who wisely flicked it over to a wide-open Weaver for an easy finish past Burse.
