Brief: RSL Lands Davies' Rights In Lottery

U.S. youth international Kyle Davies has opted to continue his career in the United States, leaving Southampton FC to sign a deal with Major League Soccer, multiple sources are confirming this afternoon. As is league policy, a weighed lottery was held to determine which team will own his rights, with Real Salt Lake chosen as the lucky winner.

Davies, a California native who celebrated his 20th birthday earlier this month, spent time at the IMG Academy in Florida before signing with Southampton FC of the English Championship at the age of 17. Despite not getting playing time with his club's first team, Davies has emerged as an integral part of Thomas Rongen's U-20 squad, playing every minute of the team's five games so far in '09.
