Seattle To Kick Off '09 MLS Season

The 2009 MLS regular season will kick off on Thursday, March 19th, according to a league source, with a match between Seattle Sounders FC – the league’s newest team – and the New York Red Bulls at Qwest Field. The fixture, which will be the Sounders’ first time taking the field in MLS, will be broadcast to a national audience live on ESPN2.Major League Soccer will officially announce the game tomorrow when it reveals the complete schedule for First Kick 2009, the first week of official matches, as well as each club’s home opener. The full season schedule is not expected to be unveiled until early next year.
