Part of David Beckham’s endorsement fortune is set to evaporate: Soft-drink maker Pepsi has announced that their 10-year relationship with the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder will soon be coming to an end.“David’s football legacy will live on and everyone at Pepsi will continue to be as passionate about his success as we have been over the last 10 years,” said a statement from the company. “We wish David well with the many projects he is pursuing and look forward to the possibility of partnering together with him again someday.”
The deal had been worth an estimated $3.5-4 million per year, with ads featuring Becks alongside celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce, as well as stints being a cowboy, gladiator, and surfer. It is believed that Beckham opted to not renew his contract in order to concentrate on other endorsement deals in his portfolio.
“I have nothing but good memories of my association with Pepsi,” said Beckham. “I hope everyone who has seen the work enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed making it.”
