* The Columbus Crew have clinched the Supporters’ Shield by virtue of their 2-2 tie against the Chicago Fire combined with the Houston Dynamo’s draw against D.C. United. It is the second time in history that Columbus has secured the trophy given to the team with the highest regular-season point total, with 2004 being their other triumph.
* Toronto FC and the Los Angeles Galaxy both managed to keep their slim playoff hopes alive in Week 29, with TFC picking up a point in Dallas and L.A. edging out the Colorado Rapids to stave off elimination.* The Chicago Fire and Chivas USA are the latest clubs to get invited to the dance, with Chicago moving up to second place in the Eastern Conference following their 2-2 tie in Columbus. Chivas clinched their place in the postseason by picking up their fourth-straight victory – and fifth in six games - by defeating the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.
