Chivas USA forward Maykel Galindo has successfully undergone hernia surgery for the third time in 2008, the club revealed on Wednesday. Suffering from a bilateral sports hernia, the injury has keep the Cuban forward off of the field for much of the 2008 season and his post-surgery recovery is expected to take another three months.
After scoring 12 goals in a breakout 2007 campaign, Galindo has been limited to ten appearances this season, notching just one goal and two assists over the course of the year. He will be forced to watch from the sidelines as Chivas USA attempts a run at MLS Cup, starting with this Saturday’s first leg of their opening-round matchup against Real Salt Lake at the new Rio Tinto Stadium. The second leg will take place on November 8th at the Home Depot Center, with the winner of the series advancing to play the winner of the Houston/New York series for the right to play for MLS Cup.
