Beckham Suspended For Houston Match

Those fans in the Houston area who had bought tickets to the Dynamo's home finale against the Los Angeles Galaxy on October 18th in hopes of seeing David Beckham will be disappointed to learn that the England midfielder and Galaxy captain will miss the match while serving a one-game suspension for yellow card accumulation, per league rules.

Next Saturday's clash was scheduled to be Beckham's first visit to Robertson Stadium since joining MLS fifteen months ago. The Dynamo had put out a press release last Tuesday announcing that less than 5,000 tickets remained available for the match, with a sell-out expected by the club.Beckham received his fifth booking of the season in the Galaxy's 1-0 loss to the Columbus Crew last weekend, triggering the automatic suspension. He would have been eligible to serve his penalty in Los Angeles' home tie against the Colorado Rapids on Sunday, but has been called up by England coach Fabio Capello for his country's upcoming pair of World Cup Qualifiers, meaning the suspension will be carried over to the next game in which Beckham is available for selection by head coach Bruce Arena.

I was at the crew game and his yellow card foul was so blatant and unnecessary that I think he was trying to get the card. His team was obviously going to lose and miss the playoffs, so he decided he'd rather go shopping with posh than travel to Houston. Just my opinion though...

I believe he probably thought his suspension would be covered by his FIFA date absence. A f(*&k up anyway you look at it.
