Toja Makes UEFA Champions League Debut

Former FC Dallas midfielder Juan Toja started and played 77 minutes of UEFA Champions League action for Steaua Bucuresti in the Romanian club's 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich in their opening match of group stage play on Wednesday. Toja had a relatively quiet game, only showing up on the stat sheet with one foul suffered and one foul committed.
Toja joined the Hoops in 2007 on loan from Independiente Santa Fe and immediately became a critical part of Dallas' lineup. Earning All-Star Game selections in each of his two seasons in MLS, Toja left the league on August 1st, to pursue a move overseas in hopes of becoming more visible for selection to the Colombian national team. He recorded 8 goals and 3 assists in 43 regular-season appearances for Dallas.

Up next for Toja and Steaua is Italian side Fiorentina on September 30th. French giants Lyon are the other team drawn into Group F.
