"We'll try to sign Blanco with the help of several sponsors and persuade him to come to San Luis," said Payan Latuff, owner of the team's stadium, Estadio Alfonso Lastras Ramirez in San Luis Potosi. "For the next tournament we'll make an effort to bring Blanco, who is an idol here in Mexico, to the club. We'd be delighted. I will speak to club president Eduardo Del Villar and Emilio Azcarraga, who owns his rights."
It seems unlikely that Blanco will be suiting up for San Luis at any point in the future, however, as San Luis would have to buy out his current contract from MLS, who would be less-than-willing to let one of their biggest stars leave the league. Further, Blanco recently retired from the Mexican National Team and stated his desire to play in the United States for a while longer before returning to Club America to end his career.San Luis currently sits atop Group 3 in the Apertura 2008 tournament with a 6-1-2 record, currently best in the league. Many American fans may also know of San Luis as the club for which current American youth international Michael Orozco plays.
