The 2007 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, Guzan made four saves on the day for the Villains but was beaten decisively by a Damion Stewart header at the hour-mark. Villa had many chances to score on the offensive end, but were unable to do so, culminating in their exit from the competition.Guzan's transfer to Aston Villa was formally announced in mid-July, ending a four-year run with Chivas. From 2005-2008, he compiled a regular season record of 26-33-19 and a 1.41 GAA, as well as 24 clean sheets.
His breakout year came in 2007, when "El Guzano" put up a 14-6-7 record, with 13 shutouts and a 0.93 GAA en route to leading Chivas to the Western Conference championship - though the club was subsequently dumped from the MLS playoffs in the first round by Kansas City.
