Colorado Rapids midfielder Conor Casey has been named
MLS Player of the Week for Week 27 after bagging a hat trick against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, including the game-winning goal in second-half stoppage time. In winning the honor, Casey's offensive outburst overshadowed other sensational individual performances by the likes of
Yura Movsisyan and Darren
Huckerby, who scored two goals each over the weekend.

"It's probably been a while since I scored a goal, so it feels really good," said Casey. "It gives me a lot of confidence, but the main thing is the way the team performed entirely and the result we showed. It was an up and back game and we just kept fighting and the last month or so, we really made some new strides. It feels really good where we are headed."
It is the first
MLS POW award for Casey, making him the second Rapids player to earn the honor this season, joining Terry Cooke (Week 1). The former
FSV Mainz striker has now scored eight goals in 18 appearances this season, and 10 total since joining Colorado last year.
